SEE Finance pour Mac

SEE Finance was recently updated to version 3 as of 2025-12-14. SEE Finance is FANTASTIC financial software. The author states that he is busy working on a solution that integrates a third party aggregator to allow the re-establishment of a one-click easy download of financial data since DirectConnect is no longer supported by financial institutions. At $39.99, I am upgrading just to support the further development of this essential software. I keep looking at the competition, and while they have gotten better, they still don't function nearly as well as SEE Finance, especially for tracking taxable expenses. If you are a sole-proprietor or just an individual with various investments or sources of income, SEE Finance is indispensable, especially when tax season comes around. All financial software solutions that allow a one-click download are forced to use a third party data aggregation service nowadays. It's a bit disheartening. Most solutions suck up all your data to their own cloud servers so they can parse and sell your data to advertisers or other businesses. Even when they don't parse your private financial data, they are still exposing your data unnecessarily by hosting it on the internet. Why? It's our financial data, not theirs. I appreciate that the maker of SEE Finance understands this and always tries to maintain privacy and security of our data, letting us choose how and where to save our data. I can understand why the developer has been slow to move to a third party aggregation service since that could potentially expose our finances to data miners. In a more perfect world, better solutions would exist (or would continue to exist as in the now defunct DirectConnect services). After corresponding with the developer over the years, I recognize that he is a very smart and thoughtful person. I agree with his concerns and trust that he will make the proper decisions in the further development of this software. I am guessing that he will likely add the ability to optionally use an aggregation service like Plaid and/or Yodlee, while disclosing both the benefits (easy, quick download of data from almost all financial institutions) and possible privacy concerns along with the additional and unfortunate subscription cost of using such a service. It isn't really right that the banks sell our OWN financial data to these third party aggregators which we must then purchase from the aggregators... It's OUR OWN DATA for Pete's sake! Why should we be paying anyone to access our own records of deposits and withdrawals?! But this is the screwy world we now live in, unfortunately.

Anyone else getting error message when checking for software update or attempting to reach developer website:" Error checking for update.The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “scimonocesoftware.com” which could put your confidential information at risk."

Have been using SEE Finance since 2019 and still find it to be a great financial program for my needs. Contrary som some of the 2023 comments, find the developer to be quite responsive. Found a small problem with the 2.4.1 update, notified the developer and he responded almost immediately. He was able do duplicate the problem and will investigate further. Nothing that really affects the program ... found a small problem creating back-up files.

I recommend user looking for a good personal finance program to just try SEE Finance themselves and compare it to the alternatives such as Money, MoneyWiz, Moneyspire, Banktivity, Moneydance, etc. After actually using the programs for a decent length of time, you will likely come to the same conclusion that I have, SEE Finance is still better, even with having to manually download OFX/QFX files from some financial institutions that no longer provide Direct Connect. Hopefully a new "one click download" solution will be made available when a viable solution is found by the author.

...Aside from more responsive customer support, the only other detractor from this program is the easy "one click" download of all data. This app has that ability in the form of Direct Connect, which works flawlessly and without subscription cost; however, over the years, almost every bank has abandoned OFX / Direct Connect download, which is a shame and no fault of the author. The author is actively looking for other solutions, but the only viable alternative is subscription based third party data aggregators which has its own set of problems. FDX is a newer method, but, unfortunately, only available to select institutions.
